Originally, founder Petr Vaněk just wanted to monitor the energy consumption of his own home. The startup, born in a garage in 2012, became the best European startup at the Disraptors Summit ten years later.
And two years after that, Flowbox is celebrating again – as the only Czech company mentioned in the Gartner Hype Cycle 2024 for low-carbon energy technologies.
"This is recognition not only for the company itself but also for the entire Czech Republic," says COO Pavel Jiránek. "It serves as another notable reference and a guide for the management of companies, municipalities, or schools looking for a functional tool for energy management."
The platform can – simply put – autonomously connect data from various meters in buildings to ensure that the consumption of gas, water, light, or heat is aligned. Costs can be reduced by millions.
It is used by companies and cities: managing public lighting in Řevnice, an elementary school in Milevsko, the Labe Arena sports complex, and collaborating with the municipal energy community in Jindřichův Hradec.
"Among the notable names among our clients are AGC, Lasselsberger, Assa Abloy, Westfield, and Teleflex," lists Pavel Jiránek.
Analytical company Gartner updates its rankings annually. The mentioned Hype Cycle specifically maps the latest developments in the world of innovations and technologies. Gartner analysts continuously gather data from various sources, including market research, expert interviews, and user feedback on technologies.
For a company with forty employees, inclusion in the ranking also promises new business opportunities.
"We are planning the first three projects in the United States for August, and our next target will be Japan," concludes Pavel Jiránek for Flowbox.
